EMF Measurement How-To | What is EMF | EMF Blocker – Silver Affect

Electromagnetic Field (EMF) is a zone of moving electrical charges. We are constantly exposed to EMF radiations in our everyday life; they are emitted from almost every electronic device such as microwave ovens, cellphones, WiFi routers, wireless devices, etc. The radiations are harmful to our health when they exceed a threshold point. Electromagnetic Emissions influence our metabolic processes. Moreover, these harmful radiations have different biological effects on cells through various mechanisms. There are two different types of electromagnetic waves, i.e., low frequency and high frequency. They affect the human body in different ways. The issue with EMF is that the radiation is not visible to the naked eye since the field is invisible. However, there are various methods for determining the amounts of EMF emissions in our environment. We'll go over a few of them in this article.

Units of EMF

EMF is measured in terms of volts/meter (V/m). EMF will be 1 V/m when a one-volt electric potential is one meter away. EMF is also measured in kilovolts/meter (kV/m).

The Importance of measuring Electromagnetic radiation

According to the National Council for Radiation Protection, consistent exposure that is greater than 10V/m is hazardous to human health. Prolonged exposure to EMF radiation can cause serious health concerns in the human body, such as headaches, palpitations, chest pain, nausea, tiredness and fatigue, dizziness, irritability, insomnia, and so on. To keep ourselves safe from the EMF radiations. It is essential to stay aware of emission levels. If you are walking around your home, not close to electronic devices such as computers or TV, you will get an EMF reading of between 1-5V/m. Each electronic device emits different levels of EMF radiations, for example, a typical TV set emits 12Volts.

Ways to measure the levels of Electromagnetic Field (EMF) emissions

The EMF levels in your home or office can be measured with the help of an EMF meter. This portable device can measure the level of radiation with satisfactory accuracy. The value of EMF is location-dependent. The intensity of an electromagnetic field is inversely proportional to the distance between the source and the receiver. The Electromagnetic field becomes weaker as you get further away from the source.

The intensity of the electromagnetic field is measured in watts per square meter (W/m2). The rate of power flow in an electromagnetic field is measured through the basic relationship, i.e., W(Watt)=V(Volts) X A (Ampere). Furthermore, the energy density of an electromagnetic field is proportional to the square of the amplitude of the electric (or magnetic) field. The intensity of EMF is directly proportional to the number of electronic devices. When an area has a greater number of electronic appliances, the induced electromagnetic field becomes stronger. The speed of the electric current is determined by the voltage potential; the greater the potential difference, the faster the electrons will travel

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which regulates mobile phones, has set a radiation threshold of 1.6 watts per kilogram averaged across 1 gram of tissue for cell phones. However, most cell phones surpassed that limit by 2 millimeters or the space between your phone and your pocket.  In 2021, the Children’s Health Defense won a landmark lawsuit against the FCC for inadequate protection guidelines for EMF exposure due to widespread EMF sickness. The FCC is now required to revise the guidelines within the year.

Meters to check EMF levels in your environment:

EMF & RF levels drastically vary in spaces. To test levels in the room and the effectiveness of the garments, obtain an RF meter, these are available at a number of locations and are usually simple to operate. We prefer to use TENMARS TN-195 Meter because this meter is specifically used to indicate electromagnetic pollution generated artificially. Wherever there is a voltage or a current, electric(E) and magnetic(H) fields arise.

For beginners, we also recommend meter  Acousticom 2 RF Detector. Which has an easy-to-read color system to determine safe and high levels of EMF emission. Red represents greater than 8GHz (>8 billion cycles per second)  and the green represents levels below .5GHz

In short, we can conclude that it is very essential to have a device that can measure the intensity of the electromagnetic field to keep ourselves safe from higher levels of EMF radiation.

When you are in areas of uncontrollably high EMF levels, Silver Affect garments made with pure Silver metal are perfect for protecting the most vulnerable body parts.
